tile:
  • Seal your grout. It is just colored cement and stains easily.
  • Keep and store extra trim & field pieces.
  • Use Coco/Coir mats at outside entryways.
  • Use area rugs without rubber backings.
  • Apply FELT pads under table & chair legs and replace every six months.
  • Sweep daily. Mop as needed. Rinse with clean water.
  • Never use vinegar and water to clean grout.
So, you've just had your new carpet, tile or hardwood flooring installed or refinished. here's how to keep them looking new . . .

These tips will floor you

Carpet:
  • Vacuum often and vacuum in different directions each time. This will add years to the life of your carpet without any extra work!
  • Carpet is a textile, and as such, it needs cleaning every year or two. Hire a pro.
  • Never use 'Resolve'. It could 'set' the stain. Try 'Spot Shot' or make a non-bleach laundry detergent and water paste. Always blot, never rub. Rinse with clean water.
  • U.V. rays can discolor carpet. Lowering blinds, moving area rugs and furniture seasonally, will do wonders.
Hardwood:
  • Do not clean newly applied polyurethane, or put down area rugs for 30 days.     It takes about a month for polyurethane to cure 100%.
  • We suggest BONA hardwood flooring 'cleaner' on site-finished hardwoods.
  • Only use BRUCE DURALUSTER cleaner on Bruce prefinished hardwoods.
  • NEVER use Murphy Oil Soap, Pledge or similar products.
  • Use Coco/Coir mats at outside entryways.
  • Use area rugs without rubber backings.
  • NEVER mop your hardwood floors with water.
  • Sweep or 'dry' dust mop floors often and entryway areas daily.
  • Keep high heels off of hardwood floors.
  • Apply FELT pads under table & chair legs and replace every six months.
